What we know about you.
Last updated 8 October 2026.
We want to know as little about you as we can. This page says what we do know, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Just A Human is an independent publication run from Thailand. We are the ones who decide how your information is used, which the law calls the controller. You can reach us at hello@thejustahuman.com.
Our readers live everywhere. We follow Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), and where you are in Europe or the UK, we follow the basics of the GDPR too. In practice that means the same thing for everyone: we ask first, we explain, and we do what you ask.
What we collect
- Your email address, if you subscribe. It is the only thing we need.
- Your name, only if you choose to give it. It is optional.
- Anything you write to us, if you send an email. We keep it as long as we need to reply and to correct our work.
- When and where you signed up. Our email service records the time and the page you subscribed from, and whether you clicked the confirmation link. We keep that as our proof that you agreed.
- Basic technical details, such as your IP address, browser and the page you asked for. Every web server sees these. Our host keeps them for a short time for security and to keep the site running.
We don’t ask for anything else. We don’t build profiles, and we don’t buy data about you.
Why we use it
To send you the story newsletter you asked for, to confirm that the address is really yours, and to reply when you write to us. Our legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time, and it will be as easy to withdraw as it was to give.
Who helps us
- Kit, our email service, stores your address and sends our emails. It acts on our behalf and may record whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We look at that only in aggregate, to learn which stories land. Kit is based in the United States, so your address is processed outside Thailand and, if you live in Europe or the UK, outside your region. We rely on your consent and on Kit’s own safeguards for that transfer.
- Cloudflare hosts this site and sees the technical details above. It also passes on the email you send to hello@thejustahuman.com, through its email routing service, to a personal inbox.
Our typefaces are served from this site, so your browser does not contact Google or any other font service.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it with anyone else.
Cookies and what stays on your device
We use no tracking cookies, no analytics and no advertising pixels.
Your browser may keep three small things on your device, only so the page can remember you: the stars you place in our sky, whether you turned the sound on, and whether you chose to show or hide the editor’s notes on a story. They never leave your device, and we can’t see them. You can delete them any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
How long we keep it
Your email address stays on our list while you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you at once. Our email service keeps the record of an unsubscribed address until we delete it by hand, so we delete it within 30 days, or sooner if you ask, keeping only what we must to honour your unsubscribe. Emails you send us are kept as long as we need them to reply, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or give you a copy to take elsewhere. You can object to how we use it, and you can withdraw your consent. Just write to hello@thejustahuman.com and we will do it, or tell you plainly why we can’t.
If you are not happy with how we answered, you can complain to Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Committee, or to the data protection authority in your own country.
Children
We write for adults, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.
If this changes
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top, and we will tell subscribers before the change takes effect.
